What to Expect on your first Visit
Before We Begin
On your first visit, I will ask you to fill out a Client Medical History Form. This information will help determine what techniques to use and how to structure the session. We'll start by talking about your medical history, your current physical condition, your lifestyle and stress level, any pain you may be experiencing, and why you're seeking treatment.
You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions or discuss any concerns you may have.
The Massage
A typical massage session generally lasts from 30,60, to 90 minutes. The room in which you receive your massage is warm and softly lit. There will be soothing music & candles. You'll be asked to remove any jewelry such as necklaces, earrings, or watches. A jewelry dish is provided for your convenience. Please turn off your cell phone or turn it on "silent".
You'll be asked to disrobe partially or completely (in private) and to lie down underneath a sheet and blanket. These will be used to drape over the areas of your body that are not being massaged. Your modesty will be respected at all times and only the area to be treated will be exposed. Take your time. I will knock before I come into the room.
The comfortable sheet-covered table has a special face-rest, which allows you to lie facedown without turning your head or neck.
Usually your massage will move from light to deeper pressure within your comfort range. Any initial discomfort will gradually be replaced by a more relaxed feeling.
Communication is a key factor in the effectiveness of a massage session. If at any time you feel uncomfortable, or if the massage itself becomes painful, you should let me know at once. I will always try to accommodate you in terms of comfort and warmth.
Halfway through the massage I will ask you to turn over on to your back. While you do this, please slowly move down a little so that your head will be on the table. (I will remove the face-cradle). I will have you draped properly the entire time you need to turn over.
After the Massage
After you dress you will open the door to let me know you’re done. I will have a fresh cup of water for you. Massage releases waste products and toxins from your muscles. Increasing your fluid intake lowers this toxicity and lessens the strain on filtering organs.
At this time you will be asked to make your payment with either cash, check, or credit.
This is a great time to schedule your next appointment! I will give you a reminder appointment card to put in your wallet. Getting yourself on the books in advance is recommended.
What's next?
The number of sessions you may require can vary widely. If you are using massage for chronic relief, you may want to make appointments as often as once or twice a week. For acute injuries, the number of treatments will depend on the nature of your condition. I can also recommend ways to prolong the benefits of your treatment and suggest the frequency of follow-up visits.
